Tropical Storm Odette now over West Philippine Sea

TROPICAL STORM Odette has maintained its strength and is now over the West Philippine Sea, the national weather agency reported on Friday. The Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) the storm has maximum sustained winds of 90 kilometers per hour (kph) near the center and gustiness of up to 113 kph. At 10 p.m. Friday, October 13, the storm’s center was at 260 kilometers (km) west of Sinait, Ilocos Sur, the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said, adding that Odette is expected to move west northwest at 12 kph.

The state weather agency said Odette is expected to exit the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) by Saturday morning. Tropical Cyclone Warning Signal Number 1 is still hoisted over the provinces of Ilocos Sur, La Union and Pangasinan. At least 30 to 60 kph winds are expected in the next 36 hours in these areas. Pagasa said that estimated rainfall amount is from moderate to heavy within the 400-km diameter of the tropical storm, which could bring moderate to occasionally heavy rains over Metro Manila, Central Luzon, and Calabarzon region.
